The other guy for breaking his screen or OP for telling him to use CCleaner after he told him he broke it? I think it was more of a "next time use CCleaner, it has a better success rate than punching your monitor".

D though yeah, they may help quell the merciless rage the unwashed masses feel at technology: Also no need for silly software like CCleaner, cause how Linux is built makes fuckin' sense in comparison to Windows and it's software: Spotify, Netflix, Steam with more games than consoles anyway and lots of other software is here or better or worse equivalents, depends.
Well, for starters I don't watch much of Netflix, cause in my country it's offer is complete shit, so I download most movies and tv shows anyway which is silly considering I wouldn't mind paying for them a reasonable price like Netflix offers.
Hey, even most of Android devices don't support full hd or 4K yet. Anyway if you are watching full hd or 4K movies on a PC, then you are doing it wrong - use a fuckin TV: But fair point, this is a bit of an issue, though it's still early addition to Linux world and there are workarounds like using pipelight.
Yeah, you need the windows app for top quality, especially when it comes to audio bit rate which is low on IE and Edge as well. But sometimes I watch on the PC monitor since it's comfortable.
Windows also has a production ready data-checksumming self-healing copy-on-write filesystem ReFS. Does Linux ship with one of those yet? You have to understand that ANY innovation coming from Microsoft already happened in open source propably few years earlier.
Do you know why? Cause no matter how many billions you pour into software, open source will evolve faster. Even if it gets restrained by politics or business happens all the time, it can get forked by genius 14 years old hacker from rural Kansas and pushed yet another few steps up - beauty of open source: What do you think Apple and Google, most influential and richest IT companies in the world, are using in their software?
Open source all the way, yes even OSX is pretty much built on top of open source tech BSD and lots of other components. Key word is "production ready". Which is, to be fair, highly subjective.
Most seem to put it at "well, it depends, try it and see, and try not to let it get full". That's a pretty simplistic view of things. Microsoft do interesting things, as do a lot of other commercial software developers - open source does not have a monopoly on innovation - indeed, it's often a response to things that first saw the light of day in commercial products.
These fancy modern filesystems? NetApp was doing this shit in the 's with their in-house filesystem. And need I remind anyone that ZFS came out of and went back to being a commercial closed source product.
Aside from the 90s, what widely adopted innovation came from MS in last 10 years? Make it 15 even. Okay lemme rephrase, for the average user with a decently sized HDD disk fragmentation won't cause many issues, as disk platters can hold so much data now that they rarely get split, and even then can be read at decently fast speeds.
The issue with Windows is that it puts new data as close to the begining of the drive as possible, always, ergo size of the drive doesn't matter, it's gonna get fragmented eventually anyway. On Windows that trick won't work, cause Windows will try to put data back at the begining, fragmenting the shit out of it again.
It is a lovely program. I marked one of the advanced settings though once, and then the next day windows wouldn't boot up properly. So now I avoid those settings like the plague. Yeah, I just don't mess around with it.
It annoys me how it deletes my login data so I have to re-login to every site, but otherwise it's a great program. Just don't delete cookies You're using the program and not understanding what it does?
Dunno why this was downvoted.. You enter the password once per browser session and it fills in the data. Same, did this to my main PC back home and the laptop for college and when the laptop couldn't boot up well I had to call home and make sure that the PC wasn't having issues.
Someone needs to make a Preston Garvey version of this. Did CCleaner change somehow in the last 3 years? Cause 3 years ago it was bullshit tuning software if i remember correctly. Was 2GB Windows 10 iso and 1GB temporary internet files that would have stacked up anyway again cause they help speed up things All it does is remove temp files and cache files and other shit like that.
It doesnt do jack shit for speeding a PC up. It also removes registry errors which is probably fully placebo, but I love it. It's also a nice UI for removing startup programs. And is a completely seperate function That usually no one should use, because it does jackshit, but on the other hand could be a cause for problems instead.
I use CCleaner for fast and easy temp file cleaning not so much anymore, actually Because it's too automated for me, I'd rather do that by hand. And it has a neat menu to disable startups, disable options from the context menu, scheduled tasks, etc.
It's just all in one, super fast and easy to use. I don't have to open msconfig or scheduled tasks from Windows seperately and do stuff like this. Also because it tends to show me more stuff than Windows normally does.
I don't want things to be hidden. Oh and I find to like it more to list and uninstall software, because it's just all much faster and nicer looking. I admit I don't know much about registry entries, but I've never had a problem with ccleaners cleanup.
I use it on anyone's computer when they need help. Unless you run those programs. Which it DOES increase speed for because programs cache beyond their own good. Chrome is so guilty of this.
Well, maybe on Windows. Never had that issue on Linux, but Linux caches all commonly used and opened files in RAM instead of the drive, along with my HDD only used for misc docs. But that's shitty, still. Linux loads stuff quickly.
Fastest load times I've ever had was with ChromeOS, though. You have settings of what should be deleted. I remember deleting like 8GB with CCleaner, which didn't improve perceived performance but gave me much needed space: Finally I know what that second C in front of cleaner means.
Lol I called it CC Cleaner anyway. I can't be the only one, am I? I run it regularly. As a guy who worked at IT support: CCleaner is crapware and doesn't do shit to speed up anything. Itremoves files that are there to speed up your pc.
It doesn't remove files that are there to speed up your PC. What it removes doesn't affect performance one way or another for modern PCs and on ancient things it might speed something up under the right circumstances.
I also worked at IT. Personally I use it for registry cleaning. Simply because I like to keep things neat. If I uninstall some software I want registry keys gone as well. The Cleaner is pretty useless for the most part, sometimes it can come upon big files that windows or some other software "forgot about" but very rarely.
I like Revo Uninstaller, myself--when you use it to uninstall software, it'll scan for leftover folders and registry entries. Do people in this thread honestly think ccleaner speeds their computers up? If so then this subreddit is full of bigger retards than I thought.
Yeah, everyone knows WinCleaner is the only way to go for a faster computer. Well, not being a fucking idiot can save you PC, too. And it seems that your friend failed at this.
I was actually amazed I managed to fit a fully-updated Windows installation onto this drive, with Office and Chrome. Nope, SSD originally designed for cache. The free version of CCleaner doesn't bug you about paying for the premium version, nor does its interface try to trick you into looking at a sales pitch.
Some storage savings is temporary: This is not a flaw in CCleaner, just a fact of Web browsing: Deleting your browser cache can get rid of gigabytes of files, but your cache will fill up again over time, so that recovered storage space isn't permanent.
Also, your previously visited pages will take longer to reload if you delete all the files in the browser cache. Cache deletion may be a good practice for privacy-oriented users, or for people transitioning to a different browser, but we would not wipe the cache by default.
In our tests, CCleaner detected a whopping 7GB of log files created by Windows, which it automatically flagged for deletion. Many of these were hundreds of megabytes in size.
However, log files can be useful if your computer is misbehaving, as they contain error messages to assist you or a technician. They're not supposed to get anywhere near this large, and old logs just tend to sit unused and take up space, but we'd prefer to keep at least the most recent one by default, in case something goes haywire later.
These were previously installed Windows Update patches. If Windows says that they're OK to delete, it's a mystery why CCleaner -- which ordinarily takes a more aggressive approach -- did not flag them.
While MB isn't a huge amount of space, the Disk Cleanup report made us wonder what else CCleaner might be overlooking or not prioritizing. It's not clear what would happen to CCleaner if we told it to delete its own Registry entry, but users not closely inspecting the Windows Registry Cleaner results might find out the hard way.
CCleaner remains a handy tool for freeing up storage space, letting you customize how it works and permanently erase files. However, some behavioral quirks indicate that it's not quite a full replacement for Windows' built-in disk cleanup tools, which tend to be more conservative but also safer.
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history.
Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. Need to be careful with checking boxes or some important files can be removed too. I have been using this software for a while. I also use it to uninstall programs that i don't need any more.
If you want something simple and powerful at the same time then try out this software. Was this review helpful? Login or create an account to post a review.

There are two tabs to this area of CCleaner: Windows deals primarily with the information Windows saves on your system. Applications deals with the data each program you use on your computer saves whenever you use them.
By default, CCleaner will have checked the most commonly cleaned options for users. However, you want to go through each checked box and make sure the data associated with it is something you want to clean up.
Both tabs are included when you do anything with CCleaner from this point on. They are not independent of each other. Remember that CCleaner is a smart program. It is not deleting anything you need to run Windows or your programs.
